CERFACS (Centre Européen de Recherche et de Formation Avancée en Calcul Scientifique) works intensely on large code coupling from ocean/atmosphere simulations in the GLOBC team to CFD tools to compute engines or aircraft in the CFD team. This position is offered by the CFD team in collaboration with ONERA. A description of CFD work at CERFACS (more than 70 researchers) can be found here for reacting flows. The collaboration with ONERA is centered around tools and applications. The tools are based on OPENPALM and CWIPI and this is where the main effort will be place for this position. These tools ensure the communication between large solvers on massively parallel machines. They are the critical, computer-science elements of the coupling approaches. CERFACS and ONERA also work together on applications of these tools to real problems. The image below is a first-ever computation of a fully coupled, compressible, reacting simulation of a coupled simulation of compressor, combustor and turbine chamber. This is the type of end-user application which is the target of the CFD team.

To develop this work, the CFD team needs an expert in the computer science aspects of code coupling. The candidate must:
- know UNIX, OpenMP, MPI
- know git
- be able to work in a large computer science team
- have basic notions in CFD if possible
- be motivated by HPC in general and by applications in aerospace (but not only).
