OpenPALM has a very friendly graphical user interface and the coupler has been designed to set up a parallel dynamic coupling in a very intuitive way.
Nevertheless it offers so many possibilities and tuning that a new user generally needs to attend a training course illustrating the main features of the coupler and allowing an extensive hands on experience with the software.
The basic training course lasts three days and it is held periodically at CERFACS or on demand at the users' place.
Customised training sessions on specific application domains are organised on demand.
Details about dates, application and fares are found in the "training" page of the section dealing on how to become a user.
The next courses scheduled at CERFACS are regularly listed in the PALM announcements.
Moreover, registered PALM users are entitled to contact the PALM Team for specific support while installing the coupler, implementing a new application or optimizing a coupling on a new architecture.
Due to internal organisation issues at CERFACS, no training session are scheduled. If you need support on OpenPALM (PALM and CWIPI), contact Florent Duchaine.
After many years of development and regular use, starting on January 2011, the OpenPALM coupler has become Open Source.
Every user is entitled to receive the full sources of the coupler (PALM, CWIPI and PrePALM libraries), to use them and to modify them, accordingly to the LGPL v3 license, as stated in the header of every single source file.
CERFACS will centralize the integration of the contributed development and will distribute the official releases.
As stated in the license, the code comes with no guarantees. CERFACS offers user support, training and on site maintenance on the basis of specific agreements with the users.
