The CERFACS Strategic Research Plan is based on a core of generic activities called ‘Strategic Axes', which provide methods, tools and building blocks. A highly fruitful interaction between science and application is encouraged through the Application Axes, developed in close collaboration with CERFACS associates.

Strategic axes:
- Numerical Algorithms
- Sustainable programming
- Data Driven Modelling
Applied axes:
- HSAA: HPC simulation of multiphysics flows with advanced numerical methods
- H2: Hydrogen transition and safety
- SETT: Simulations for the energy transition for transportation (SAF, BLENDS and
E-FUELS) - HAZ: Environmental and industrial hazards, monitoring and modeling, from local
to global scales - CLIM: Climate variability and climate change from global to local scales
