Mr. Laurent Terray was awarded the Académie des Sciences prize, under the dome of the Institut de France, for his essential scientific contributions to climate and the environment.
Laurent Terray studies the mechanisms of climate variability, climate change and its impacts. He pioneered the French community’s first coupled ocean-atmosphere climate simulations in the early 1990s.
He also contributed to the latest IPCC report as lead author of Chapter 10 “From Global to Regional Scales”.
This award is a fine recognition of the work carried out in Toulouse, including at Cerfacs, in the field of Universe Sciences, and this for over 30 years.
