Laurent Terray, laureate of the Académie des Sciences’ Medal for the Sciences of the Universe!

Laurent Terray, Director of the Climat, Environnement, Couplages, Incertitudes (CECI (CNRS, Cerfacs)) laboratory, has been awarded the Académie des Sciences‘ Médaille des Sciences de l’Univers, awarded each year to a representative of this community.

A pioneer in the first coupled ocean-atmosphere climate simulations, he has made a major contribution to our understanding of the mechanisms of climate variability.

Lead author of Chapter 10 of the latest IPCC report, “From Global to Regional Scales”, and affiliated with the Climate and Global Dynamics Division of NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) in the USA, he continues to influence climate research through various European projects and the TRACCS program, where he sits on the executive committee.
